Risk & Liability

  • Imperative that anyone entering or responding, be properly trained for the risk or potential hazard dealing with property or equipment contaminated with fentanyl, carfentanil or W18.
  • Someone whether it is Health Services, or an Insurance company will assume liability for the said property or equipment; VERY IIMPORTANT to ensure you have qualified and competent contractors and vendors handling the situation.
  • Comply with applicable occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Cross contamination after the fact meaning ie. A vehicle being cleaned by an auto detail company, then said vehicle being given back to owner and the owner having an exposure to said chemicals. Hopefully the result would only be an overdose and not lethal causing death.
  • Clearly all properties do not need to be demolished but need to be cleaned properly and verified by a reputable firm for sampling and sign off.
  • Potentially going home to see family involving cross contamination and not properly decontaminated.
